Job summary

The University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake is recruiting Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 roles within the Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Services (PSPS) team in Seattle. Positions may be full-time or part-time across day, evening, and night shifts.

As a CLT 1, you will help process specimens, perform phlebotomy, and provide excellent patient service. You may train new staff and support accreditation efforts, contributing to accurate diagnostics and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent plus 1 year of chemical, clinical, or public health lab experience.
• Completion of an ASCP-approved laboratory assistant course.
• Equivalent education/experience acceptable except for legal requirements such as license/certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing: receive, sort, prioritize specimens; match to requisitions; centrifuge and aliquot; process timed urine collections; enter results for reference lab testing.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Provide prompt, courteous customer service to patients, clients, and staff; instruct patients on proper urine specimen collection.
• Orient and train new staff; participate in performance improvement; support accreditation standards (JCAHO, CLIA, CAP).
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems with documentation for supervisor review.
