Job summary

Rivian is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to support vehicle repairs, on-site or in the field, including customer homes and remote locations. The role spans diagnosis, repair, and parts coordination with a team-focused, safety‑conscious approach.

Ideal candidates will have EV/hybrid repair exposure, strong tool skills, and the ability to work a 40‑hour week with potential weekend hours. A Michigan mechanic certification is required, with ongoing training opportunities available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record (3–5 year window).
• Ability to drive non-commercial truck/trailer preferred.
• 40-hour work week, may include weekends/holidays/evening/overnight shifts.
• Proficient with Windows or Mac computers.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, eager to learn.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Read and speak fluent English.
• Must be Michigan certified mechanic with specified categories.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, install, and inspect vehicles at service centers or in the field.
• Explain Rivian product lines, EV framework, tools, and accessories.
• Follow repair procedures using available resources while ensuring safety.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair quality.
• Manage parts operations: order, receive, ship, inventory.
• Provide feedback to senior technicians or leadership on improvements.
• Support service campaigns and containment initiatives.
• Document work and technical notes for internal/external use.
• Collaborate with team and maintain high-quality work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain professional communication with customers.
• Stay current with skills and complete required training.
• Interact with customers, families, 3rd parties, and suppliers as needed.
