Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a detail-oriented Field Commissioning Technician to drive the go-live process for new EV charging sites. You will perform vehicle inspections, site readiness checks, and meticulous documentation while traveling to customer locations across the United States.

This remote role requires being within a reasonable distance of a major airport for frequent travel (50–75%). You will support commissioning engineers, coordinate on-site activities, and assist technicians

Qualifications

• Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document activities clearly.
• Willingness to travel across the United States up to 50–75% and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company at customer locations with professional conduct.
• Support go-live for new EV charging sites, coordinating on-site activities and flagging risks to the Commissioning Engineer.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, verify readiness, and document findings prior to site activation.
• Assist technicians with asset inspections, troubleshooting, and on-site repairs.
• Follow safety procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and worker safety.
• Maintain thorough documentation using asset management and project tracking platforms.
• Support HV charger operations, including plug cycles and addressing service needs during commissioning.
• Perform LV battery replacements and jump-starts as needed.
• Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and organized for efficiency and safety.
• Develop customer service skills to ensure a positive experience during the go-live process.
• Participate in training to grow technical and project coordination capabilities.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a high standard for documentation.
