Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a diligent Field Service Technician to represent the company at customer locations, ensure professional conduct, and support go-live for new EV charging sites with on-site coordination.

You will perform vehicle inspections, assist technicians with asset inspections and on-site repairs, follow safety procedures, maintain meticulous documentation in asset and project management systems, and support HV/LV activities while traveling and adapting to varied

Job description

Responsibilities

• Represent the company at customer locations with the highest standards of professional conduct.
• Support the go-live process for new EV charging sites, including coordinating on-site activities and flagging risks or delays to the Commissioning Engineer.
• Conduct new vehicle inspections, verifying vehicle readiness and documenting findings prior to site activation.
• Assist technicians in asset inspections, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing customer assets on-site as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Maintain extremely thorough, accurate, and timely documentation for all commissioning activities, inspections, and work completed, using company asset management and project tracking platforms.
• Support High Voltage (HV) charger operations, including conducting plug cycles and responding to service needs during commissioning.
• Perform Low Voltage (LV) battery replacements and jump-starts as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment to ensure efficiency and safety.
• Develop and maintain strong customer service skills, ensuring a positive customer experience throughout the go-live process.
• Participate in training programs and hands‑on learning opportunities to develop technical and project coordination expertise.

Requirements

• Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for accurate, organized documentation.
• Demonstrated time‑management skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to driving continuous process improvement.
• Proficiency with computers and standard software (documentation tools, spreadsheets, asset/project management platforms) required.
• Automotive Technology certification from an accredited school preferred (not required).
• Willingness to develop project management and project coordination skills; prior experience a plus.
• Basic electrical and AC skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
