Boston Public Schools – Curley K-8 in Boston, MA seeks an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for a long-term substitute position starting 9/25/2026 to 12/25/2026. The role focuses on multilingual learners and collaboration with content teachers.

The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree, a valid MA ESL license, and meet state and federal standards to be Highly Qualified. Per diem substitute pay applies.

Competenze

• Hold a Bachelor's degree.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL at the appropriate grade level.
• Complete state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and “Highly Qualified.”
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
• Able to model excellent spoken and written English for students learning English in school.

Mansioni

• Provide ESL instruction to Multilingual Learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align language development and classroom instruction.
• Coordinate with instructional leadership to ensure language support and academic assistance.
• Assist with ACCESS administration oversight.
• Organize ELL student transition meetings as needed.
• Plan lessons aligned to WIDA standards for varying English proficiency levels.
• Demonstrate cultural proficiency in teaching practices.
• Integrate technology as an instructional tool and for productivity.
• Apply WIDA ELD Standards and Can Do Descriptors.
• Assist with mandated state and local assessments for English learners.
• Attend district/state professional development opportunities.
