Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our community of learners. This is a long-term substitute position starting 10/13/2026 and ending 11/19/2026, hired as per diem subs at the per diem pay rate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Massachusetts ESL teaching license required.
• Fully licensed and Highly Qualified per state guidelines.
• Authorization to work in the United States by start date.
• Ability to model excellent spoken and written English for students learning English.

Responsibilities

• Provide English as a Second Language instruction to Multilingual Learners identified as English Learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align instruction and support for language development across domains.
• Collaborate with leadership, coaches, and administration to ensure language support and academic assistance.
• Assist with ACCESS administration and student transition planning for ELL services.
• Plan and deliver lessons aligned to WIDA standards and varying levels of English proficiency.
• Attend district/state professional development to stay current with ELL teaching strategies.
