Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional ESL and Special Education/Moderate Disabilities teacher who is highly qualified to join our community of teachers, learners and leaders. This is a long-term substitute position anticipated to start on 9/8/2026 and end on 10/1/26, with per diem pay at the baseline rate for substitutes.

Qualifications

• Education Level: Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL at the appropriate grade level.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities at the appropriate grade level.
• Complete state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and “Highly Qualified.”
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above.
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
• Able to model excellent spoken and written English for students learning English in school.

Responsibilities

• Teach ESL to Multilingual Learners identified as English Learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align instruction with English language development across four domains.
• Work with instructional leaders to ensure language support and academic assistance for ELL students.
• Assist with administration of ACCESS testing.
• Prepare for and assist with ELL student transition meetings.
• Plan and deliver lessons aligned to WIDA standards for varying English proficiency levels.
• Demonstrate culturally proficient instructional practices and integrate technology.
