Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking a Nursing Trainer to lead growth and development across our emergency care teams. You will coach with compassion, tailor training to diverse learners, and shape education tools that elevate care for both people and their pets. Your work spans hospital-wide mentoring and strategic program development.

You will partner with leaders, assess team needs, and advance VEG’s Cultivate initiative while traveling to support regional onboarding and across-hospital training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology preferred.
• Credentialed veterinary technician in the state of practice; VTS in ECC/IM/anesthesia is a plus.
• High level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine.
• Previous training experience preferred.
• A passion for teaching and uplifting others; ownership mindset for team growth.
• Strong communicator and collaborator across teams.
• Excitement about VEG's culture and mission; willingness to travel within the region.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with varied personalities; nights/weekends/holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs.
• Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through observation and immersion.
• Drive advancement through VEG’s Cultivate program.
• Implement VEG training programs and serve as the go-to training lead at your hospital.
• Split time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development.
• Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles and skill levels.
• Organize peer training opportunities and build a strong mentoring culture.
• Collaborate with nursing managers to broaden impact.
• Develop and refine training content (presentations, videos, simulations, assessments).
• Ensure training aligns with VEG’s culture, mission, and care standards.
• continually evaluate leveling programs for assistants and technicians.
