Job summary

VEG is seeking a Nursing Trainer to lead development and coaching across hospital training programs. You will design and deliver hands-on sessions, mentor staff, and create educational tools to elevate emergency veterinary care.

You’ll tailor content to diverse learning styles and monitor progress to ensure growth across teams. As a key educator, you will partner with leadership, organize peer training, and champion VEG's mission to empower VEGgies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from AVMA-accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of VEG practice location; VTS in ECC/IM/anesthesia a plus
• High level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine
• Previous training experience preferred
• A relentless passion for teaching and uplifting others
• Ownership mindset around team growth and development
• Strong communicator and collaborator across teams
• Excitement about VEG's culture and mission; leadership by example
• Willingness to travel to other VEG hospitals for onboarding as needed
• Must work in a noisy environment with strong odors and support night/weekend/holiday shifts

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs
• Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through observation and immersion
• Drive advancement through VEG's Cultivate program
• Implement VEG training programs as the go-to training lead at your hospital
• Split time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development
• Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles and skill levels
• Organize peer training opportunities and build a mentoring culture
• Collaborate with nursing managers and professional networks to broaden impact
• Develop and refine training content (presentations, videos, simulations, assessments)
• Ensure training aligns with VEG culture, mission, and emergency standards of care
• continually evaluate and improve leveling programs for assistants and technicians
