Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking an Emergency Department technician to provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive patient care across assigned areas. You will collect vitals, assist with procedures, and help manage patient needs under the supervision of nursing staff.

Qualifications include EMT or nursing program entry, active EMS certification, or military medic training, plus ER Tech CBO Tool training within six months. Candidate must uphold patient privacy and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of EMT program or nursing school first semester with clinical concepts.
• Active state EMS certification in good standing.
• Recognized military training as a US Army medic / Navy corpsman / Air Force medic / Coast Guard corpsman.
• ER Tech CBO Tool training within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data: vitals, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, specimens.
• Performs and reports Point of Care Testing.
• Assists with patient activities and care per the plan of care.
• Cares for patient hygiene and assists with elimination and incontinence care.
• Assists with patient feeding and mobility.
• Assists admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Chaperones during examinations and procedures; assists with treatments.
• Maintains patient safety and privacy; follows isolation and infection control measures.

Education

EMT program

Nursing program (first semester with clinical concepts)

Active state EMS certification

Military medical training (Army medic / Navy corpsman / US Coast Guard corpsman)

ER Tech CBO Tool training within 6 months
