Job summary

UTMB Health in League City, TX is seeking an ER Technician II for the ED (7A-7P). The role provides intermediate technical assistance and patient care in the Emergency Department, supporting nurses and clinicians.

Requirements include EMT program or nursing school enrollment with first semester completed, active EMS certification or military medic training, and BLS from AHA. Experience with vital signs, specimen collection, and basic diagnostic procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of EMT program or enrollment in a recognized School of Nursing with first semester containing clinical concepts and health assessments.
• Active state EMS certification in good standing at the date of hire or recognized military medic training.
• Completion of ER Tech CBO Tool within 6 months of employment.
• BLS from American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data; takes vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collects specimens.
• Performs and reports Point of Care Testing.
• Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee.
• Provides for patients’ personal hygiene and related care.
• Assists with patient feeding, mobility, and positioning.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; ensures a clean, safe environment.
• Communicates with Nurse Clinicians, Charge Nurses, and multidisciplinary team members.
