Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic/billing/insurance information and enters it into registration and billing systems; explains insurance and hospital procedures to patients.
• May complete managed care tasks for pre-certification and authorizations.
• Prepares consent forms and privacy notices, obtaining signatures for treatment and financial obligations.
• Collects deposits, co-pays, deductibles, and patient liability payments; provides receipts and records payments.
• Prepares patient armbands and balances daily receipts; follows up on account notes and flags.
• Schedules, reschedules, or cancels patients per hospital workflow; checks order completeness against scheduled services.
