WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a detailed and patient-oriented Registration Clerk to handle patient registration, demographics, and billing information. You will collect insurance details, verify coverage, and explain billing processes to patients in a high-volume hospital setting.

This role requires a high school diploma and ability to navigate registration and billing systems, with meticulous paperwork handling and strong communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic/billing/insurance information and enter into the registration/billing systems for service and claim processing; provide information about insurance and hospital procedures to patients.
• May complete managed care tasks for pre-certification and authorizations.
• Prepare consent forms and obtain electronic signatures for consent to treat and patient financial obligations.
• Collect deposits/co-pays/deductibles/patient liability payments; provide receipts and document payments.
• Prepare armband for patient identification.
• Balance daily receipts and cash drawer; follow up on accounts as indicated by system flags.
• Initiate screenings and gather information for coverage; complete necessary paperwork.
• Perform medical necessity checks and complete Advanced Beneficiary Notice as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients per hospital workflows.
• Check order completeness and validate against scheduled service.
