Job summary

MedStar Health in Baltimore seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the emergency department care team, providing direct patient care under supervision and assisting with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and routine care tasks.

You will help monitor vital signs, assist with procedures, and transport patients while maintaining a focus on comfort, safety, and patient dignity. CNA certification and CPR are required, CPT phlebotomy certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years experience as a CNA required; care technician/EMT/paramedic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under supervision and assists with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Collects specimens and performs venipuncture; obtains EKGs; inserts/changes IV catheters and dressings.
• Monitors vital signs and documents data in the health record; conducts basic assessments.
• Assists with procedures, treatments, and patient transport; maintains patient comfort and safety.
• Maintains cleanliness, privacy, and dignity; participates in rounds and handoffs; supports quality and safety initiatives.
