Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a patient-centered care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with ADLs, specimen collection, venipuncture, IV care and EKG procedures, and health record documentation.

As part of daily duties, you will help with patient mobility, vital signs, transport, and communication with providers to ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved Patient Care Technician training program required.
• CNA certification and CPR certification required; CPT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Assists with activities of daily living and personal care including mobility and hygiene.
• Performs specimen collection (blood, urine, sputum, stool), venipuncture/phlebotomy, EKGs, and IV catheter care.
• Records vital signs, I&O, height/weight, and relevant data in the health record.
• Maintains patient safety, privacy, and dignity; assists with examinations and procedures.
• Transports patients and supports discharge/appointment logistics; participates in rounds and handoffs.
