Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to join the emergency department team. You will provide direct patient care under supervision, assist with ADLs, collect specimens, perform venipuncture, place IVs, and help with EKGs while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

You will support nurses and providers, participate in rounds and handoffs, and assist in CPR when needed. A CNA certification and CPR training are required, with a preference for prior ED or acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program is required.
• 12 months of CNA experience is required; emergency care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of RN or MD staff.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Collect specimens and perform venipuncture as needed; obtain EKGs and place IVs.
• Maintain patient comfort, privacy, and safety; document in health record.
• Support with rounds, handoffs, and CPR when indicated; assist with examinations.
