CHS Career Site is seeking an ER Registrar to manage patient intake in the Emergency Department, registering patients, verifying insurance, and ensuring accurate data while delivering compassionate service in high-stress situations.

The role supports efficient department operations, ensures confidentiality, and collaborates with clinical and administrative teams. This is a full-time, day-shift position at 1499 Fair Rd, Statesboro, GA.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in a professional and compassionate manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
• Registers patients for emergency services, obtaining all required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details, making necessary updates to patient records as needed.
• Obtains patient’s or appropriate family members’ signatures on consent forms and explains each consent prior to signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and answers related questions.
• Documents carefully if the patient cannot sign consent and nursing sign-off when needed.
• Verifies insurance and identifies proper plan codes for prompt payment.
• Compiles necessary paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of the patient visit.
• Places an armband on each patient for identification during their stay.
• Notifies departments or physicians of patient arrival and follows up if wait times are long.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and alerts the facility as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
