CHS Career Site seeks an ER Registrar to manage patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department. You will gather and verify personal, insurance, and medical information, ensure accuracy and confidentiality of patient records, and deliver high‑quality customer service to patients and families.

In this role you will support documentation, insurance verification, and communication across clinical and administrative teams to facilitate efficient department operations.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and families in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Registers patients for emergency services, obtaining all required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details, updating patient records as needed.
• Obtains patient or family signatures on consent forms, and explains each form prior to signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolves related questions.
• Documents thoroughly when a patient cannot sign consent forms and notes nursing sign-off if needed.
• Identifies proper insurance plan codes to ensure accurate payment.
• Compiles paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Places armbands on patients for identification throughout their stay.
• Notifies departments or physicians of arrivals; follows up if patients wait.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and alerts the facility when plans are in place.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
