Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identity and insurance details; updates records as needed.
• Obtains patient or family member signatures on consent forms and explains each consent.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolves related questions.
• Documents thoroughly if patient cannot sign consent and notes nursing sign-off if needed.
• Verifies insurance and proper plan codes for accurate payment.
• Prepares paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Places patient armband for identification during stay.
• Notifies department or physicians of patient arrival and follows up if waiting.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and alerts the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
