Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will manage lower severity claims with close supervision, supervise outside counsel, and support underwriting and claim colleagues with legal insight.

Responsibilities include preparing management reports, negotiating settlements, and ensuring compliant claim handling while maintaining thorough documentation and stakeholder communication. A JD and active license are required.

• Ability to negotiate settlements and terms within designated authority.
• Ability to analyze and resolve claims with professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision, following operational policies.
• Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and vendors; negotiate settlements when appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development, financial exposure, and resolution strategies with guidance from management.
• Develop and coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit to optimize loss mitigation opportunities.
