Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join the Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will manage lower severity claims with supervision, coordinate with outside counsel, and provide legal insights to underwriting and claim colleagues.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of legal or claim handling experience, a JD, and are licensed or ready to obtain licensure. This role offers comprehensive benefits and a clear path for professional growth.

Qualifications

• One to five years of legal or claim handling experience.
• Ability to negotiate settlements and manage outside counsel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision.
• Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and other vendors under supervision and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare management reports on loss development and exposure with guidance from management.
• Coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit to mitigate losses.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, depositions to support claim resolution.
