Travelers, a leading property casualty insurer, seeks a Bond & Specialty Insurance (BSI) Claim Counsel in Hartford, CT to provide legal guidance to underwriting and claim teams, investigate claims, and support strategic initiatives. The role involves analyzing coverage issues, negotiating settlements, and coordinating with outside counsel.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, a valid license to practice law, and 1–5 years of relevant experience in legal or claims work, with readiness to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Juris Doctorate required.
• Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where you will be working.
• 1–5 years of relevant legal or claims experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow operational policies to analyze, investigate, and resolve BSI claims with supervision.
• Prepare and present management reports on loss development and financial exposure.
• Retain and manage outside counsel with litigation plans and budgets.
• Communicate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Travel to mediations, settlement conferences, and depositions.
