Job summary

Travelers is seeking a highly experienced Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance team in California. You will provide legal advice to underwriting and claims colleagues, analyze complex claims, and help optimize outcomes.

Five or more years of legal or claim handling experience is required. You will collaborate with outside counsel, manage litigation budgets, and support risk mitigation initiatives across private and nonprofit segments.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of relevant legal or claims handling experience.
• Ability to negotiate terms and conditions within designated authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve BSI claims with moderate supervision.
• Prepare management reports on exposure and reserve status.
• Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and manage litigation budgets.
• Support broker/agents visits and risk mitigation initiatives.
