Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will manage lower severity claims, supervise outside counsel, and provide guidance to underwriting and non-attorney colleagues.

This role has a national footprint and a hybrid work model, requiring 1–5 years of legal or claim handling experience, a JD and an active license, and a robust benefits package including health, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and JD; license to practice law in the jurisdiction.
• 1–5 years of relevant legal or claim handling experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate terms within designated authority.
• Must obtain Insurance Adjuster License within three months.

Responsabilités

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision.
• Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and settlements; negotiate when appropriate.
• Prepare reports on loss development, financial exposure, and resolution strategies.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and depositions to support resolution.
• Provide legal/business support to underwriting colleagues and other teams as needed.
• Ensure compliance with claims processes, record-keeping, and confidentiality.
