Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local projects across our portfolio.

You will assist with site investigations, data interpretation for HRHAs and ERAs, and the development of QA plans and sampling strategies. Collaboration with multiple disciplines is essential to delivering robust assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification or Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and interpretation of data for human health and ecological risk assessments (HHRAs and ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and SAPs.
• Prepares CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs of varying complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists to select and implement project approaches.
• On oversight projects, provides technical evaluation of documents and supports client meetings.
• Guides and mentors junior staff for growth within the discipline and firm.
• Contributes to proposals by collaborating with sales staff for RFPs.
• Writes white papers on emerging environmental issues and presents at conferences.
• Performs other duties as required.
