Job summary

CDM Smith in Detroit seeks an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects in the Environmental Services Group. The candidate will assist with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and toxicologists to implement approved project approaches, develop DQOs, QAPPs, and SAPs, and prepare CSEMs and BERAs of varying complexity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline (or equivalent) with professional scientist registration/certification.
• Seven years of related experience is required.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency depends on duties.
• Equivalent additional related experience may replace the degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and interpretation of data for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and SAPs in projects.
• Prepares CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, BERAs for varying complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
• Supports proposals and RFP responses with sales staff.
• Contributes to technical knowledge with white papers on environmental topics.
• Represents firm at conferences and symposia to raise visibility.
