SUMMARY
The Environmental Project Manager provides regulatory support and coordination with local, state, and federal environmental agencies as necessary on environmental concerns. They are responsible for managing multiple projects efficiently, including project planning, resource management, and budgeting. Interaction with outside stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, is also required.
Project management activities include direct participation in and oversight of teams responsible for environmental site assessment, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat assessment, field surveys, NEPA documentation, environmental report and permit development, constraint mapping, and public involvement support.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop relationships with prospective clients as assigned to generate potential revenue.
- Prepare proposals and participate in business development activities.
- Draft bids, proposals, work plans, or statements of work, seeking higher-level reviews/approvals as needed.
- Develop and implement project budgets at inception, including billable labor hours and expected expenses. T&M projects may be exempt.
- Develop remedial action plans for soil and groundwater impacts.
- Ensure contract documents are in place before starting work.
- Compile and process all project data, including logs and field data sheets.
- Prepare reports and documents to meet client, contractual, and regulatory obligations.
- Create and review invoices for completed work.
- Manage projects, including planning, budgeting, and invoicing, and interact with clients throughout all phases.
- Maintain positive client relationships via communication and meetings.
- Follow up post-invoicing to ensure payment.
- Be available for communication after hours when needed.
- Maintain compliance with billable goals and prioritize health and safety.
- Supervise personnel working on projects.
- Identify and relay resource requirements for projects.
- Perform fieldwork as required, including travel and overnight stays.
- Stay updated on issues related to regulatory agencies.
- Liaise with federal and state regulatory personnel, including inspections.
- Oversee multiple projects and staff effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or engineering field with at least three years’ experience.
- Licensed Environmental Consultant (OCC).
- Prior project management experience, ideally 1-4 years.
- Experience in environmental consulting and proposal development.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to pass physical and drug tests, hold a valid driver’s license, and travel as needed.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and team orientation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and extended hours.
- Experience with Deltek Vantage Point is preferred.
