Job summary

SCS Engineers in Charleston, South Carolina seeks an energetic Environmental Project Manager to lead brownfield assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment projects. You will oversee Phase I/II ESAs, VCC program work, and coordination with SCDES, mentoring staff, and supporting business development.

This in-office role emphasizes leadership, client communication, and compliant project execution, with opportunities for growth within a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related degree.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience in environmental consulting with field and office work.
• Solid or hazardous waste management, industrial projects, groundwater assessments and landfill compliance knowledge is a plus.
• Water quality, environmental regulations and environmental assessment/remediation proficiency.
• Project development experience and willingness to lead teams.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop scopes of work and budgets for Phase I and II ESAs and related environmental services.
• Communicate with clients, third parties, and regulators on project status and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to contract specifications including health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Lead and coordinate project teams, planning, staffing, and billing projections.
• Mentor staff and support business development activities.
