Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related degree.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience in environmental consulting with field and office work.
• Solid or hazardous waste management, industrial projects, groundwater assessments and landfill compliance knowledge is a plus.
• Water quality, environmental regulations and environmental assessment/remediation proficiency.
• Project development experience and willingness to lead teams.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus and valid driver’s license.

• Develop scopes of work and budgets for Phase I and II ESAs and related environmental services.
• Communicate with clients, third parties, and regulators on project status and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to contract specifications including health, safety, and environmental standards.

Job description

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is seeking an energetic, forward-thinking Environmental Project Manager with a strong technical presence for our Charleston, South Carolina office. The successful candidate will manage complex brownfield assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment projects, with a particular focus on South Carolina's Voluntary Cleanup Contract (VCC) Program. This position offers significant opportunities for leadership and growth within SCS. The Project Manager will provide leadership, direction, and coordination for regional projects and clients; support planning and business development initiatives with senior managers; mentor staff; and prepare and review technical reports.

This Project Manager will support a variety of environmental projects, with an emphasis on developer-led brownfield redevelopment in South Carolina. Typical assignments may include Phase I and Phase II ESAs; VCC/NRP-VCC application and contract support; baseline investigations; risk-based corrective measures; media management; vapor intrusion evaluation and mitigation; construction-phase environmental oversight; and coordination with SCDES through completion and long-term stewardship. This role is mostly in-office.

How you can make an impact

• Developing scopes of work and budgets, managing, and executing Phase I and II environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring programs, soil and groundwater remedial actions, environmental compliance auditing and permitting, and related environmental services.
• Communicating with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues.
• Ensuring adherence to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including health, safety, security, and environment.
• Make decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems/ methods, represent the company in conferences to resolve important questions, and plans/coordinates work.
• Management of projects should include lead technical person, client contact, scheduling of personnel, and other management duties such as projecting manpower requirements, billing projections, invoicing, and accounts receivable management.
• Mentoring and development of staff
• Assisting Project Director by organizing and contributing to business development activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related degree required.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience required. Experience must include hands-on field and office-based activities in environmental consulting required.
• Specific experience in solid or hazardous waste management, industrial projects, groundwater assessments and landfill compliance monitoring/reporting is a plus.
• Must be well versed in water quality, environmental regulations and environmental assessment/remediation.
• Demonstrated experience in project development.
• Professional Certification (PE/PG/CIH) preferred and current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
