Job summary

City of Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide technical desktop support for Environmental Services Department users and to act as application administrator for department-specific software. The role coordinates with City IT to ensure fully functional workstations and peripherals.

Responsibilities include configuring systems, supporting data production for regulatory compliance, and serving as a liaison between the Water Department and city operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in CS/IT/CE/BIS or related field.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers and coordinates information systems used by ESD and other departments.
• Facilitates production of data to achieve department objectives and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Collaborates with City Departments, IT Staff, and vendors to develop/configure systems, resolve problems, and plan upgrades.
• Conducts administrative research for planning, budgeting, and evaluation; liaises between Water Department and city operations.
• Participates with cross-functional teams in operation of department information systems.
• Analyzes administrative plans and current practices for improvements via information systems.
• Performs related work as required.

Education

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related field
