Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide desktop support for the Environmental Services Department (ESD) and to coordinate with City IT for workstation readiness and peripherals. The role also administers department-specific applications and liaises with multiple city teams to ensure smooth operation of systems.

Essential duties include coordinating information systems, facilitating data production for compliance, and researching departmental processes for planning

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in CS/IT/related field; three years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
• Three (3) years of related work experience required.
• Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Administers and coordinates information systems used by ESD and other departments.
• Facilitates production of data to achieve department objectives and ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
• Works with City IT staff and vendors to develop and configure systems, and to schedule installations and upgrades.
• Conducts administrative research for planning, budgeting, and evaluation; serves as liaison between Water Department and City operations.
• Participates with teams related to operation of department information systems.
• Analyzes administrative plans for simplification through information systems.
• Performs related work as required.
