Job summary

Tighe & Bond, Inc. is seeking an Entry Level Staff Engineer to join our Transportation and Roadway Design teams in Shelton, CT or Middletown, CT.

You will contribute to vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast and collaborate with experienced professionals in a hybrid work environment. You will design roadways, assist with drawings and reports, and support senior engineers while gaining field and design experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• FE Exam and EIT certification or plan to obtain by 2027.
• Interest in roadway and transportation design; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Basic knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, or state DOT standards.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; willingness to learn and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing roadway infrastructure including alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control.
• Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support senior engineers to meet project goals and ensure standards compliance.
• Assist with drainage modeling, traffic control planning, and design documentation.
• Perform site visits to collect field data and support construction activities.
• Use CAD software to prepare and revise design plans.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and support construction administration tasks.
• Coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, and regulatory agencies during design and permitting.
