Job summary

Tighe & Bond is seeking an Entry Level Staff Engineer to support Transportation and Roadway Design projects in Shelton, CT or Middletown, CT. This hybrid role involves collaborating with a team to design roads, bridges, and multimodal systems that improve safety and sustainability.

You will gain hands-on experience with CAD tools, prepare drawings and reports, and assist senior engineers while pursuing licensure and professional growth in a supportive, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• FE Exam and EIT certification by June 2027 or plan to obtain.
• Interest in roadway/transportation design and collaboration.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, or state DOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design of roadway infrastructure including alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control.
• Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support senior engineers in meeting project goals and standards.
• Assist with drainage modeling, traffic control planning, and design documentation.
• Perform site visits to collect field data and support construction activities.
• Use CAD software to prepare and revise design plans.
• Review contractor submittals and RFIs; support construction administration.
• Coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, and agencies during design and permitting.
