Job summary

Tighe & Bond currently seeks a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Transportation Business Line in Shelton, CT or Middletown, CT. You’ll assist with roadway design, prepare docs, and participate in field visits under supervision.

You will use AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation and gain hands-on experience in traffic analysis and 3D modeling while exploring a career in transportation engineering with a supportive, hybrid-work culture.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related degree
• Coursework or experience related to roadway design or traffic studies or other related coursework and experience
• Strong interest in transportation engineering, roadway design, or traffic analysis
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and open-mindedness

Responsibilities

• Assist in roadway and intersection design, including traffic control and signage
• Help prepare construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimate
• Participate in field visits and construction observations
• Use design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to support plan development
