Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level student success coach and mentor to support students across elementary to high schools. You will coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors, while collaborating with teachers on classroom activities and student progress.

The program provides training, a bi-weekly living stipend, and comprehensive benefits through City Year and AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to promote academic success, attendance and behavior.
• Plan and monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers on instruction.
• Support and participate in extended day, after-school and virtual programs.
• Assist with creating a engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with staff.
