Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level Student success coach and mentor to support students across grade levels. The role focuses on coaching and mentoring elementary to high school students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will plan and monitor progress, work with teachers on in-class instruction, and participate in school-wide initiatives. The program offers paid full-time service with 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Coaches and mentors students to earn academic success and improve attendance.
• Work with teachers on whole class instruction and student support in-school.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and learning activities.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to collect, record and analyze student progress.
