Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance in elementary to high schools. They’ll monitor progress, collaborate with teachers, and contribute to a positive classroom environment. Training is provided at the start of the year.

Entry-level, paid, full-time position aiming to support whole-school initiatives and student growth, with benefits and AmeriCorp eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary.
• We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on whole class instruction, breakout spaces and other in-class student assistance.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups; develop literacy and/or math skills; create and implement behavior management system; collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor progress.
