Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance, while collaborating with teachers to support class instruction and student services. Training is provided at the start of the year to help you establish effective routines.

You will participate in both in-school and extended day activities, including literacy and math skill development, with a focus on creating a positive classroom environment and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or mentoring students is not required; training is provided.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff to support student progress.
• Interested in helping students succeed academically and behaviorally.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary to high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support in-class instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement literacy and math activities and behavior plans.
• Support extended day and after-school programs and student clubs.
