Job summary

Shannon & Wilson, an employee-owned geotechnical engineering firm, seeks a Geotechnical Engineer with 0–6 years of experience to join our team. The role involves geotechnical analyses, field explorations, report writing, and collaboration with clients and staff.

Travel to support multiple offices is expected, along with ongoing professional development and adherence to QA, safety, and project protocols.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred.
• 0–6 years of Geotechnical Engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate obtained or in process.
• On track to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Experience in soil/rock mechanics, foundations, slope stability, tunneling, seismic design, retaining structures.
• Willingness to travel to support other Shannon & Wilson offices.
• Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering reports.
• Perform field explorations, sample collection, geological reconnaissance, and mapping.
• Provide field observations on job sites and prepare logs and documentation.
• Conduct geotechnical laboratory testing and communicate results.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Support marketing activities, including cost proposals.
• Follow QA, health and safety policies.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
