Job summary

Shannon & Wilson seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to perform analyses, prepare reports, and conduct field explorations across project sites. The role includes field observations, lab testing coordination, and communication with clients and staff.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering background, 0–6 years experience, and an EIT/PE track. Travel to support multiple offices is required, with a competitive benefits package offered.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering; MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred.
• 0 - 6 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate obtained or in progress; on track to PE license.
• Experience in soil/rock mechanics, slope stability, foundations, tunneling, seismic design, retaining structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering reports.
• Conduct field explorations, collect samples, and map geologic features.
• Provide field observations on sites and document logs and results.
• Perform geotechnical lab testing and communicate results.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Support marketing activities, including cost proposals.
• Follow QA policies and health/safety procedures.
