Shannon & Wilson is an employee-owned geotechnical engineering firm seeking a Geotechnical Engineer. You will perform analyses, field explorations, and report writing to support challenging infrastructure projects in diverse environments.

Required BS in Civil Engineering with a preference for MS/PhD in Geotechnical Engineering. 0–6 years experience and EIT/PE trajectory are expected; travel and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering; MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred.
• 0–6 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate obtained or in process.
• On track to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• Knowledge in soil/rock mechanics, slope stability, foundations, tunneling, seismic design.
• Field observation experience in logging explorations and related activities.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering reports.
• Perform field explorations, sampling, reconnaissance, and mapping.
• Provide construction observation and prepare logs and documentation.
• Perform geotechnical lab testing and communicate results.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Support marketing with cost proposals.
• Follow QA and safety policies.
