Job summary

Shannon & Wilson is an employee-owned geotechnical engineering firm offering services in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, environmental and natural resources. The position is for an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer, requiring a Civil Engineering degree and advanced geotechnical study, with PE licensure in process and EIT certification in progress.

You will perform analyses, field explorations, lab testing, and prepare professional reports while collaborating with clients and staff

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering and MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering.
• 0–6 years of Geotechnical Engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate or in process.
• On track to PE License.
• Experience in soil/rock mechanics and slope stability; foundations; tunneling; seismic design.
• Field observations and logging geotechnical explorations.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering and other reports.
• Perform field explorations, sampling, mapping and reconnaissance.
• Provide construction observation and prepare summary logs and documentation.
• Perform geotechnical lab testing and report results.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Support marketing activities, including cost proposals.
• Follow QA, Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
• Travel to support Shannon & Wilson offices.
