Job summary

Constellation in Warrenville, IL is seeking a highly technical Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and modernization of enterprise software that powers our operations and digital initiatives.

You will serve as the top technical expert for application design, mentor teams, and drive cloud adoption, AI integration, and scalable solutions across portfolios in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Technical Program with 8+ years' experience (or 12+ years in lieu).
• 8+ years in area of technical specialty; or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years architecting distributed systems.
• Experience migrating workloads to cloud (GCP).
• 10+ years IT application production support across portfolios in an operational environment.
• 10+ years software design and development with backend and databases (SQL/NoSQL: Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, Splunk).
• 9+ years hands-on experience in object programming languages (Python, Perl, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, .NET, HTML, AngularJS, iOS Swift and/or Objective, Android, Xamarin)

Responsibilities

• Drive multiple projects through to delivery, removing obstacles as needed to ensure success.
• Provide Technology Production support for multiple high-value applications in an operational capacity across Portfolios.
• Develop architecture and design of large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
• Drive improvements to software engineering practices.
• Prioritize technology investments to balance short- and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with teams across Constellation to promote collaboration and mentor others.
• Keep up to date with industry trends and apply projects as appropriate; drive data-driven improvements.
• Provide coaching/mentorship for IT personnel and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Cloud expansion including Azure and Appian (AWS).
• Architect integrations for Generation portfolio applications including AI adoption considerations.
• Managing high-availability and regulated operational environments.
