Constellation is seeking a highly technical and strategic Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, development, and modernization of enterprise software solutions that support business operations, power generation, and digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a Technical Program and 8+ years of experience or 12+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
• 8+ years of experience in area of technical specialty; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 3+ years architecting distributed systems
• Experience migrating workloads from on-prem to cloud such as GCP
• 10+ years IT application production support across portfolios in an enterprise setting
• 10+ years software design and development with backend and database services (SQL/NoSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, Splunk)
• 9+ years hands-on experience in object programming languages such as Python, Perl, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, .NET, HTML, AngularJS, iOS Swift and/or Objective, Android Mobile, Xamarin, or Python

Responsibilities

• Drive multiple projects through to delivery, removing obstacles to ensure success.
• Provide technology production support for multiple high-value applications across portfolios.
• Develop architecture and design of large-scale distributed software services.
• Drive improvements to software engineering practices.
• Prioritize technology investments to balance short- and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with teams across Constellation to promote code reuse and mentor others.
• Stay updated with industry trends and apply projects accordingly; justify investments to improve experience using a data-driven approach.
• Provide coaching/mentorship for IT personnel and promote diversity and inclusion.
• Support cloud expansion including Azure, Appian (AWS), etc.
• Architect integrations for Generation portfolio applications, including AI adoption considerations.
• Manage high-availability and regulated environments across portfolios.
