Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager for Verifications to lead a broad, integration‑heavy portfolio. You will guide architectural decisions, scale data quality and automation, and partner with Product and Compliance to align roadmaps with regulatory requirements.

You will build a high‑performing team, improve reliability metrics, and advocate for responsible use of AI tools while delivering faster, accurate verifications for a growing candidate and customer base.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager leading high‑performing teams.
• 8+ years as a software engineer with expertise in service architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience managing complex third‑party integration environments.
• Proven record of improving operational metrics (incidents, detection, reliability).
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development and responsible adoption of tooling.
• Experience on regulated products where data accuracy and compliance are critical.
• Strong incident management skills and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to prioritize quickly with a clear framework balancing reliability and product investments.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication with Product, Operations, Compliance and leadership.
• Career development focus and ability to coach engineers; humility and willingness to learn.
• Bias for action, ownership, and resilience in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team; set technical direction and hiring pipelines.
• Own reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations; reduce friction and improve turnaround.
• Collaborate with Product to define and execute roadmaps across multiple verification domains.
• Drive the technical strategy for scalable, integration‑heavy systems; improve coverage and automation.
• Lead adoption of AI‑assisted development while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
• Represent Verifications in cross‑functional planning with Product, Compliance, and Leadership.
