Job summary

Checkr, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Verifications team to lead a broad portfolio of employment, education, drug, and health verifications. You will focus on scalability, data quality, and rapid delivery across diverse regulatory environments.

You will guide a senior team of engineers, improve automation, and partner with Product to align roadmaps with customer needs while maintaining strict compliance and high reliability standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager leading teams
• 8+ years as a software engineer with distributed systems expertise
• Experience managing complex third‑party integration environments
• Track record of improving operational metrics and reliability
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and responsible tooling
• Experience working on regulated products with data accuracy and compliance
• Strong incident management and stakeholder communication skills
• Proven ability to develop people through coaching and opportunities
• Humility and openness to feedback, with a bias for action

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team — set technical direction, drive performance, and build a hiring pipeline
• Own reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations with vendors and stakeholders
• Partner with Product to define and execute roadmaps across employment, education, drug and health, and compliance products
• Drive technical strategy for scaling a complex integration-heavy system
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices to accelerate delivery without compromising quality
• Represent Verifications in cross‑functional planning with Product, Compliance, and Engineering leadership
