Checkr, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Mortgage Verifications team in San Francisco, CA. You will lead about 8 engineers, shaping the platform end-to-end—from APIs and integrations to AI/ML-powered verification decisions and the customer-facing experience.

You will partner with product, own delivery at scale, and drive AI adoption with guardrails. The role requires thriving in a high-stakes, regulated environment with opportunities to impact millions of mortgage applicants.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager with a team of engineers.
• Experience rolling out AI adoption across a team with guardrails and baselines.
• Quantitative fluency: explain metrics and baselines behind business-impact claims.
• Proven track record co-owning product direction and partnering with Product.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery and technical direction for the Mortgage Verifications team.
• Drive team-level AI adoption with guardrails and baselines.
• Co-own product direction with PM, aligning problems and execution.
• Lead platform modernization while shipping features in a regulated domain.
• Manage production incidents as technical lead and communicator.
• Grow engineers' careers and plan promotions.
• Hire senior and staff engineers to grow the team.
• Report progress to product and executive stakeholders with data.
