Job summary

Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Verifications team to own a broad product portfolio, improving accuracy, scalability, and automation across fulfillment integrations while reducing manual touchpoints.

You will lead a fast-growing team, partner with Product and Compliance, and drive a roadmap that aligns with regulatory requirements and customer needs in a dynamic, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager leading high-performing teams.
• 8+ years as a software engineer in distributed systems and architecture.
• Experience with complex third-party integrations and reliability across external systems.
• Proven ability to improve operational metrics and reliability.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and responsible adoption.
• Experience on regulated products with data accuracy and compliance.
• Strong incident management and stakeholder communication.
• Decisive prioritization balancing reliability and product investments.
• Strong cross-functional communication with Product, Operations, Compliance.
• Commitment to developing people and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team, setting technical direction and hiring pipelines.
• Own the reliability and quality of fulfillment integrations, reducing friction and turnaround times.
• Partner with Product to define and execute roadmaps across multiple verification products.
• Drive technical strategy for scaling a complex, integration-heavy system.
• Lead the team’s adoption of AI-assisted development practices with quality controls.
• Represent Verifications in cross-functional planning with Product, Compliance, and Leadership.
