Job summary

Pearson is modernizing a data platform for K-12 analytics. As Engineering Manager for Data Foundations, you will lead cross-functional teams building a trusted, scalable data foundation and AI-enabled capabilities while safeguarding continuity for current users.

You will own planning, quality gates, and release governance, review AI-influenced work, and collaborate with Product, Security, and DevOps to ensure reliable, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing engineers who ship to production.
• A working engineering background credible with AI-fluent engineering.
• Experience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users.
• Hold a quality gate under delivery pressure.
• Experience managing across a legacy and a target platform.
• Experience in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments; K-12 and FERPA exposure an advantage.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall engineering delivery for Data Foundations, including roadmap execution, platform readiness, migration sequencing, and coordination with partner teams.
• Set expectations for data contracts, quality gates, lineage, observability, access controls, operational readiness, and support ownership.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Security, Compliance, DevOps and partner teams to align priorities and protect continuity during modernization.
• Coach capability deliberately, run performance and development conversations, and build succession inside the team.
