Job summary

Pearson seeks an engineering leader to drive Data Foundations modernization while protecting continuity for current users. You will oversee AI-fluent engineering, guardrails, and release gates, guiding teams across legacy and modern .NET/React stacks on AWS.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing engineers who ship to production.
• Experience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users and monitoring after release.
• Experience managing across a legacy and a target platform with ongoing shipping.
• Comfortable with distributed teams across time zones and written discipline.
• Experience in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments; K-12 FERPA exposure is a plus.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering delivery for Data Foundations, including roadmap execution and migration sequencing.
• Set expectations for data contracts, quality gates, lineage, observability, access controls, and operational readiness.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, Security, DevOps, and vendor teams to align priorities and protect continuity.
• Coach capability deliberately and run performance and development conversations on a rhythm.
• Ensure guardrails, human-in-the-loop fallback, escalation, and disclosure are integrated into the product.
• Drive the governed shared library and data foundation, ensuring reuse across teams.
